Nextstep 3.3 Installation Cd
The problem is, that there was an abi break at 3.3.0 so even if you are able to compile the current kernel on your release -which I guess should be feasible- all the userland stuff must as well be recompiled with the tools built after the abi break which is imho a catch22. This feature is not available right now. Please try again later.
Hi all,I'm new on the site and really hope to find a help from you guys! I already have Win2k,WinXP,Win98 and Ubuntu Lucid running fine under VirtualBox 3.1.6 (Host OS is Win7 Ultimate 64 bit) but my attempt to install Nextstep 3.3 is stuck.I downloaded Nextstep 3.3 iso and 7 floppy disks (Boot disk,Drivers disk,Addl drivers disk,Beta drivers disk,Pc card install disk,Moto boot disk and finally Core drivers disk).During the installation it is asked to select the correct drivers for the hard disk and the CD-ROM:the HD is detected and registred but I have problems with the CD-ROM.
I wish I could add a screenshot of my virtual machine.in any case I have the following indications at the end of Nextstep bootup: sd0: VBOX CD-ROM 1.0 Registering: sd0 at Target 0 LUN 0 at sc0 Registering: sd0a sd0: Waiting for drive to come ready. This is my notes on installing onto Qemu. I had originally posted this on bsdnexus, however the links I had used for the graphics are nolonger working. Please note that I’m not going to build an 'accelerated' version of, I’m trying to keep this build as 'stable' as possible. I'm going to assume you know how to use vi. I would recommend trying the 0.9.0 before you try anything else.
0.8.0 seems somewhat unstable, and the busmouse driver doesn't work on 0.9.1. I've tried to keep links to QEMU up to date, but official site no longer carries the old stuff so it'll probably fall into disrepair eventually. It is worth nothing that my Pentium 3 cannot start the GUI portion. I really don’t know why. (I did try -O1 for CFLAGS) Also with regard to the NeXTSTEP part I'm using ISO images. I have just had too many problems with the physical media.
